If you are a registered driver in the state of Maryland then you are eligible to sign up for a Caps organizational plate, the official Maryland license plate of the Washington Capitals.
While showing your spirit and displaying the Caps license plate, you also will be helping charity. A portion of the one-time fee of $50 for each Caps license plate will benefit Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) Foundation. Specifically, $25 is tax-deductible.
Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation is the official charity of the Washington Capitals, Mystics, and Wizards. MSE Foundation is committed to making the region a better place for all by supporting game-changing solutions for our community. We fundraise, provide grants to nonprofits and rally MSE’s teams and fans to support and amplify the impact of community change agents. Together, we’re raising the game in the DMV.
Maryland Application Process
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are only accepting online applications. To apply for a Caps Maryland license plate, you must download the application, fill it out in its entirety (the form is completely fillable), upload the completed form, and make payment.
MVA Form - Please download the form found here. Once you download the form, fill it out completely, save it, and then upload it when purchasing.
The application must be completed in its entirety in order to be accepted by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA). Be sure to have the owner and co-owner (if applicable) of the vehicle sign where appropriate and provide ALL necessary vehicle information.
When Your Plates Arrive
Your Capitals license plates will be issued and sent to you by the Maryland MVA.
When you receive your Capitals license plates, return the license plates you were originally issued to the Maryland MVA. You can return your original plates in person to any Maryland MVA branch office, including express offices, or mail them to the Maryland MVA Central Refund Tag Return (CRTR) Unit, 6601 Ritchie Highway, N.E., Glen Burnie, MD 21062. The Maryland MVA suggests sending them by certified mail with the return receipt requested.
